According to the "Book of Invasions" that was allegedly published in the year 1000 AD, Ireland's first invader was Cessair, the granddaughter of Noah, who arrived in Ballinskelligs Bay. The Milesians, the last of the legendary invaders, are said to have landed here as well about 700 BC and left behind many of the nearby archaeological sites.
